Definition of a Coward:
"Coward. A man in whom the instinct of self preservation acts normally."
-Sultana Zaraya
Can I just say that one more time?
Coward. A man in whom the insctinct of self preservation acts normally.

Words from Sophe-my-sister:
"Grace, why is it that we like the way we look best when we're coming in from a run at 9 at night, totally drenched with rain from a thunderstorm and with mascara smeared down our faces?"
I feel real.

Rosemary Urquico: Date a Girl Who Reads

I've fallen in love with this charming passage by Rosmary Urquico. I found it posted by the authoress of Meant for Silence. Speaking of which, you really should explore the blog for a moment or two. Her tumblr-esque page marked "the exquisite" really was exquisite enough to capture my imagination several times [specifically the ships/harbors quote... you'll know it when you see it].
But this passage... this selection made me tingle with delight because Urquico captured the girl-reader so well. She's very romantic, certainly, but it adds to the passage's whimsy, I think [and psst! You should read the whole post, not just the bit below].
You will smile so hard you will wonder why your heart hasn’t burst and bled out all over your chest yet. You will write the story of your lives, have kids with strange names and even stranger tastes. She will introduce your children to the Cat in the Hat and Aslan, maybe in the same day. You will walk the winters of your old age together and she will recite Keats under her breath while you shake the snow off your boots.
Date a girl who reads because you deserve it. You deserve a girl who can give you the most colorful life imaginable. If you can only give her monotony, and stale hours and half-baked proposals, then you’re better off alone. If you want the world and the worlds beyond it, date a girl who reads.
Or better yet, date a girl who writes.

If not, no matter.
If someone understands, good. If not, then no matter. Go right on doing what you love.

I want to change every day...
[Friend Kate Ronstadt posted this on facebook today]
“I want to be a character, I don’t want to be defined, I want to change, everyday…I want to be silly, I want to be wonderful, I want to prance instead of walk, skip instead of run, I want flowers, lots of flowers, I want to write until the words mean nothing to others, but everything to me. I want to be enigmatic and magnificent. I want my aura to be gold; I want to wake up with the sun and with a smile…I want books, lots and lots of books, I want to read all day, completely let go, let my imagination run wild. I want to grasp life with both hands and not let go, I want to be magical and pretty…I want to watch Breakfast At Tiffany’s until I know every line. I want to be compassionate and considerate, and I want to make other people smile. I want to make them proud.”

I don't want you....
"I don't want you to learn how to communicate until you've first learned how to think."

Talleyrand understood me completely.
I've fallen for this quote so completely that I'm pasting it everywhere: Facebook status, Gmail status, blogger profile, and, of course, now it gets a blog post all to itself.
"She is such a good friend that she would throw all her acquaintances into the water for the pleasure of fishing them out again."
Charles Maurice De Talleyrand
I can see all my friends laughing. I'm sorry, guys, for throwing you in the water so many times.
Sort of.

Astounded.
Astounded that I found a Huck Finn quote I reeeeeally like. Here it is, folks:
"Jim knowed all kinds all kinds of signs... [He] said bees wouldn't sting idiots; but I didn't believe that, because I had tried them lots of times myself, and they wouldn't sting me."
Oh, the irony... poor Huck isn't plentifully endowed with brains...
Is you an idiot?
