I couldn't help myself. I was flipping through old posts... and I just had to share this one again.
Speech Tournament Hallway.
Boy no. 1: [says something commonplace that closes the discussion we were having about possible candidates for the finals debate round]
Gray: Cool stuff. [sees pocket knife clip in pocket] Hey, can I see your knife?
Boy no. 1: [looks surprised] Uh... sure, I guess.
Boy no. 2 [who has, it might be noted, looked extremely bored up to this moment]: Wow! You mean you actually want to see his knife? Isn't it cool? Huh? Huh? At home I have the coolest one ever and it's got assisted opening and everything. Isn't that cool? Huh? Huh?
[Gray turns pocket knife over in hands and flicks it open]
Gray: Nice. Gerber is a quality brand. I really love Kershaws, however.
Boy no. 1: [Leans forward, nodding]
Boy no. 2: You mean you've actually heard of individual brand names? Wow! Wanna here about my new Kershaw? Huh? Huh? Hey look, I have a different one on me right now. Wanna see it? Huh? Huh?
[Gray returns said Gerber to Boy no. 1 after mumbling that it was nice and picks up the new one -which is not assisted opening- proffered by Boy no. 2]
Gray: It's kinda sticky, isn't it? [Gray feels slightly embarrassed as she attempts to flick the pocket knife open but encounters difficulty doing so. She also realizes, however, that it could use a little oiling]
Boy no. 2: Oh, it's not sticky at all. I have no problems opening it, see? [Boy no. 2 takes pocket knife from Grays hand and demonstrates. He has problems opening it.]
Gray: Hey, can I see that again real quick?
Boy no. 2: Yeah, sure [hands knife to Gray]
Boy no. 3 walks up.
Boy no. 3: Whoa! Crazy scene here! First of all, what is that GURL doing with that pocket knife? Somebody take it away and give it to someone who knows how to use it!
[Gray looks offended and barely stifles an equally cruel comment --that is also devastatingly witty-- by suddenly remembering her recent Bible study and her vow to curb her wild tongue]
Boy no. 1: Careful there, dude. She's the one that's holding the open pocket knife. I'd watch it.
[Needless to say, Gray flashes Boy no. 1 a brilliant smile]
This post --a relation of a real life experiance of mine-- is an ode to Boy no. 1.

Awesome! I've had similar experiences. ;) And Kershaw is a nice brand. :D
LOVE this post, dear Gray. :) Miss you
WOO!! :D yay for Kershaws......
I'M NOT ALONE!!!!!!! :D :D :D
Thank you soo much, Grey! You GO!
I've got a Gerber and an NRA pocket knife. My favorite brand would have to be Smith & Wesson, though. They make great guns too.{Like the lady's pistol -- Oo lala! Nice! ;)}
I love Butterfly knives as well. Maybe one day I'll be rich and get one. :)
lol.... ode to boy no. 1 has been sung with greatness and much brilliance. lol.....
I've got to say I've held no particular interest in pocket knives, but... yeah.... :P
Ergh! Everyone has awesome knives but me. =P I have yet to convince my father of how amazing they are.
That was hilarious! I love it... and wish I had a good knife. :)
That was hilarious, Gray. *chortles*

Ach, boys and their disbelief. I myself am the owner of a Kershaw AO, and I have conversations like that on a regular basis. I love beating them at their own knife conversations, don't you?
*Enjoys all comments but notes that only females have said something*
=D
C'mon, Phil, Zak, and Equus! I know you guys carry knives... and I know you read this....
Let's have a pocket knife party!
That's great! :) lol.

awesomeness
Haha, I'm not a "knife person" but I had to laugh when I read this!
ash<><
Girls can carry knives! I've had a couple of times where I was carrying assisted opening knives, and the guys I was with couldn't figure out how to open them.
Kershaw and Gerber are good, but you gotta love Cold Steel!
What's really fun is to pull out a butterfly and start flipping it around. ;-)
Nice but you leave me wondering who they were... Knives are awesome...:D
I happen to know next to nothing about knifes.
Ya know? I've gotten way used to gurls carrying knifes. I kinda have this thing about Kershaw knifes. If someone pulls one out, I'll naturally gravitate towards it.
Guess who?
I can sooooooo relate!

There are girls who don't carry knives? ;) Mine's a Swiss Army and it goes wherever I go- inside my purse. (It's a tad large to actually put in a pocket)
This was fantastic! I don't feel properly dressed without my Leatherman Micra in my pocket. I generally only carry my Balisong on special occasions these days, but it is so handy to have around.
