Utterly speechless.
[long pause]
Okay, now I've regained hold of my communicative faculties. I read The Hunger Games last night.
It is one of the most heart-wrenching, grotesque, adrenaline-pumped books I have ever read.
I picked it up yesterday evening and finished it last night. I was entirely distracted while I watched Under the Greenwood Tree with my mom and sister (more on that Greenwood movie later. I wasn't impressed w/ the plot, Peach. It pivoted entirely on too many marriage proposals).
It almost beats The Grapes of Wrath for heart-wrenching.
It equals The Mark of the Lion series for keeping you reading on the seat of your pants (that series should be read with a lot of caution, btw).
I don't know if I've ever physically shaken before while reading a book. For my favorite movies, yes. But a book? I did last night.
Okay, maybe I've been needing a good book for a while now. Nothing beats The Last of the Mohicans or a good George MacDonald.
But I've been losing my faith in modern writers lately. C Paolini and Eon Colfer just weren't doing it for me. I've been in the mood for a good, current adventure and haven't been able to find one.
As far as plot driven stories go, this one gets lotsa points.
*I now rush to try and purchase sequel...*

Ah, I LOVE that book. I was one of the test-readers for it via Scholastic, I read it before it even came out, and now REEEALLLLY want the sequel!
That is one of the best books ever! Wait until you read Catching Fire... its amazing!
Yay! I was hoping the sequel would be good!!!!
OH! I have to read it...I've been wanting to forever, but everyone's talking about it, sooo...^^
I can't stand Under the Greenwood Tree....
What is Hunger Games about?
I've been wanting to read that... And yes, Paolini stinks. I think Colfer's pretty good, though.
Hey- have I said ANYTHING about UtGT lately (as in, the last three years)!?!?! Don't point my way, girl- I've reformed, yo! changed! repented! become more... fun, (or something)! :-) 'Sides, so does Little Women. But now I'm off to check this book out, seeing as I appear to be the only one out of the loop here! Sounds fun- thx for the recommendation---P
